SW420 Specifications

The SW420 is a light-duty electric swing gate designed for residential and light commercial applications. It supports gate up to 12 feet wide and 300 pounds. To ensure excellent performance and long life, the SW420 units come with a high starting torque motor. The SW420 is recommended for duty cycles of 10 per hours.

The unit boasts a rugged design with the application of a harmonic gate arm, heavy-duty oil-in-bath wormgear reducer and a pre-galvanized steel weatherproof enclosure. We have design the gate arm to disconnect easily, and a flip down entry panel makes the operator's electronics, gearbox, and motor easy to reach, easy to work on and easier on you.

The updated Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 325 listing covers many areas of the gate installation. Most of the guidelines are focused on obstruction sensing and how the system reacts to an obstructions. SENTEX SYSTEMS' SW420 has inherent obstruction sensing that utilizes a Hall Effect sensor to monitor the rotational speed of the drive during opening and closing. If an obstruction is sensed the operator will stop and then back up, by a pre-determined distance, releasing pressure on the obstruction. This is just one of the many ways that the SW420 provides you with maximum protection.

Full Systems Capability The SW420 can be used with a manual override switch installed at a guard station and/or a 3rd party access control system to permit visitor access. The open request from either systme will initiate the appropriate cycle.	Left/Right Reversing Switch The SW420 provides a switch to set the operator to be used in a right or left hand configuration. This prevents you from having to make any modifications to the operator regardless of which side of the gate it is installed.
Automatic Shut Down This circuit will automatically shut off the operator. For example, it will prevent the motor from continuously running if the chain has broken.	Delay on Reverse When the gate has reached its maximum opening point, the SW420 motor will delay the return momentarily to prevent shocking the motor.
Inherent Obstruction Sensing A built-in Hall Effect sensor is used to monitor the rotational speed of the drive system. If this speed changes during opening or closing, the operator will stop and release pressure on the obstruction.	Control Station A one button (Emergency Stop) control station is included preassembled, with the unit, for safety and manual stopping operations.
External Obstruction Sensing In addition to the inherent obstruction sensing, the SW420 operators provide termianl connections for external devices such as photo eyes.	On/Off Power An On/Off power switch is included to make installation and servicing easier.
Obstruction Sensing Alarm If the operator senses two obstruction during a single cycle, a separate loud  audible alarm sounds to alert anyone in close proximity that assistance is required.	Timer to Close An adjustable timer (1-220 sec.) is used to close the gate after a pre-determined time ahs expired. A "defeat" jumper is also included in the event the feature is not required.
Master/Slave Operation If there is a requirement for two separate gate operators to operate in unison at a single entrance, the SW420 can be configured as a master/slave and right/left operation to ensure consisten open and close cycle for both operators simultaneously. This configuration is made simple with the utilization of a two wire communication connection.	Removable Control Panel The control panel on the SW420 can be easily removed to provide for quick installation and maintenance.
Gate Movement Warning For enhanced safety, a built-in warning alarm can sound three seconds before running and during the movement of the gate. Long Distance Control Wiring An external device, such as an exit request, may be hard wired up to 1000 feet from the operator to initate the appropriate cycle.
